We visited Weston Pools and fished the Stretton pool yesterday for our latest club fixture. Conditions were notably more stable than in previous outings, with pleasant temperatures reaching 17°C throughout the day. Anglers enjoyed consistent, dry weather with light south-southwesterly breezes, providing ideal conditions for a productive day on the bank.
The match saw some impressive weights across all sections, with high levels of consistency from the top performers.
Dave Kell secured a commanding victory from Peg 28 (Section B), delivering an excellent total weight of 72 lbs 7 oz. The runner-up spot was claimed by Mark Davies, who fished from Peg 8 (Section A) to record a weight of 61 lbs 5 oz, while Martin Siddley rounded out the top three with 50 lbs 0 oz from Peg 12.
The competition for section points remained closely contested throughout the day. Congratulations to our section winners:
Section A: Mark Davies (61 lbs 5 oz)
Section B: Martin Siddley (50 lbs 0 oz). As Dave Kell took the overall match win, the section win for Section B defaults to Martin.
Section C: Syd Taylor (39 lbs 4 oz from Peg 24)
Congratulations to Dave Kell on an outstanding victory and to all our section winners for their hard work. We would also like to thank all members for their participation in making this another successful club match. We look forward to seeing everyone at Newbridge!
Match Winning Tactics
Dave fished a top kit all day on the edge of his nets feeding maggots quite heavy and waiting for a bite.
