The club was founded in the late 1980s, in the Royal British Legion club in Ellesmere Port.
In the early 1990s the club moved to the Grace Arms for a couple of years as the Legion temporarily closed. In 1994 the Legion reopened and the fishing section moved back from the Grace Arms.
In 2012 the Legion unfortunately closed its doors for the final time and was ultimately burnt down in 2013 after a suspected arson attack. The fishing section was rebranded to Ellesmere Port Angling Club in 2012.
Unfortunately some of the founder members, George Roberts and John Lyth have passed away over the last couple of years.
We have had a steady 20 members over the past 10 years but previously membership numbers have fluctuated between 14-24 active members. Unlike other local clubs we don’t charge peg fees but members pay £10 monthly to fish.
