Pretty Bridge - 9th November 2025
The latest Ellesmere Port Angling Club match proved to be a real test of endurance and skill, with Pretty Bridge serving up challenging conditions. Strong, consistent winds gusting up to 22 mph from the SSE, coupled with falling barometric pressure (1012mb down to 1009mb) and heavy rain hitting us mid-afternoon, meant the fish were not playing ball for most. Overall weights were low, confirming it was a grind for all anglers.
Taking a convincing win on a difficult day was Wayne Jevons on Peg 6 (Section B). Wayne managed to secure the best weight by a considerable margin, weighing in at 2 lbs 10 oz. A fantastic result given the weather, proving that persistence and presentation pay off when conditions are tight. Well done, Wayne!
The fight for the remaining podium places was incredibly close, with mere ounces separating the anglers.
Second place went to Gary Boydell (Peg 1, Section A) with a hard-earned weight of 1 lb 9 oz.
Just behind him, securing third place, was Paul Lennon (Peg 5, Section A) who banked 1 lb 6 oz.
Rounding out the top four and showing great consistency was Jimmy Grimes (Peg 11, Section C), who weighed in at 1 lb 4 oz.
Congratulations also go to our section winners for maximizing their peg potential on a tough day:
Section A Winner: Gary Boydell (1 lb 9 oz)
Section B Winner: Wayne Jevons (2 lbs 10 oz)
Section C Winner: Jimmy Grimes (1 lb 4 oz)
A big thank you to everyone who fished through the wind and rain. It was a tough match.
Final Standings (Top Four):
