Holmston Hall - 26th October 2025
Today we enjoyed a bracing day of fishing at Holmston Hall on Saturday, but it was Mark Davies who truly made the headlines, not only securing a dominant match victory but doing so from the lucrative Golden Peg (Peg 1), bagging himself a fantastic £100 envelope!
Mark Davies put in a stellar performance, recording a massive winning weight of 130 lbs 12 oz. His impressive catch dwarfed the rest of the field and demonstrated exceptional angling skill, especially given the tough conditions (more on that below).
While Mark was in a league of his own, the battle for the remaining top spots was closely fought:
Second Place went to Paul Lennon (Peg 9) with a very respectable weight of 84 lbs 12 oz.
Third Place was secured by Gary Boydell (Peg 6) with 24 lbs 4 oz.
Conditions on the day were challenging for the anglers, with heavy rain and strong winds throughout the match time:
Rainfall: The period between 10:00 and 16:00 saw intermittent rain, with the heaviest downpour occurring around 14:00.
Temperature: Temperatures remained cool, hovering between 8 and 9 degrees.
Wind: Winds were strong, peaking at 30 mph towards the end of the day, making presentation and accurate casting a struggle for most competitors.
Air Pressure: Barometric pressure was also steadily dropping from 1010 to 1005, often a sign of difficult fishing conditions.
The overall weights suggest a tough day for many, making Mark Davies's exceptional 130lb 12oz haul even more remarkable.
Match Winning Tactics
