Lingmere - 28th August 2025
I couldn't be bothered doing a write up this week so I asked ChatGPT to do it (Loving the nicknames!!):
It was another cracking day out at Lingmere for the club today, with the sun making the odd appearance just to remind us that summer isn’t quite over. At a toasty 24 degrees, there was plenty of sweat, banter, and excuses flying around the pegs.
Top rod of the day was Paul “Hoover” Lennon on peg 3, who somehow managed to suck up every fish in the lake and bag a ridiculous 89lb 7oz. The rest of the A section could only sit there watching in disbelief, muttering things about “wrong peg” and “fixed draw.”
Over in B section, Gary “The Machine” Boydell put in a solid shift with 55lb 8oz, showing the younger lads how it’s done. Mike Roberts also put up a good fight, but let’s be honest, once Gary’s in the groove you might as well start packing up early.
C section saw a right old scrap – Andy Lavender smashed out 49lb 14oz for the section win, but Jimmy Crimes on peg 24 must’ve forgotten to put a hook on his line, ending up with a very suspicious 25lb dead. Meanwhile, Dave Kell managed to avoid total embarrassment with 32lb 3oz, proving once again that he’s got just enough to keep the banter coming until next week.
And spare a thought for poor old Syd Taylor on peg 17… 10lb 7oz and the wooden spoon. Still, someone’s got to do it, Syd – you’re keeping tradition alive!
All in all, a brilliant match, plenty of laughs, and one or two sunburnt necks to show for it. Roll on the next one – and don’t forget, lads, it’s not the peg that catches the fish… unless you’re Paul Lennon, in which case, it absolutely is.
