The clubs annual trip to Bron Eiffon Lakes in Criccieth concluded on the Saturday with three anglers still in the running to take the title. Jimmy Crimes, Simon Bayley and Mike Roberts had all won their sections on both days and entered the final day on two points.
Jimmy drew on the damn wall (peg 5), Simon was on the island (peg 8) and Mike in the shallows (peg 13).
At the final weigh in Jimmy had been pipped at the post by Andy Fletcher who had a great net of silvers to win the section and also take the silvers trophy, well done Andy.
That left Simon and Mike to weigh in, Simon had fished shallow most of the day before dropping onto a short meat line to pick up some larger carp. Mike had a steady day catching mainly stockies and both managed section wins again.
As they both finished with a perfect three points it went down to total festival weight. Simon ended up winning the festival beating Mike by 11lb 7oz overall. Great angling Simon thoroughly deserving of the win.
A special mention to Jimmy Crimes though as if he had managed to beat Andy on the Saturday he would have won the festival on total weight, he also finished second to Andy on the silvers competition, unlucky Jimmy.
